Lavachild - Want You To (Director Cut)
Want U To was a music video collaboration with Lavachild in late 2013. When we began the project, we talked about the goal of the video, which was to set a precedent of her artistic style and aesthetics. We wanted to keep it lush and dreamy, something that would be flattering and evocative. I chose to utilize the soft glows of neon signs and arcade games along with a glide-cam to help her float throughout the video. I was also interested in separating time and location with the color palette, starting with a red (in Queens) and transitions to blue (Chinatown) as she traverses the city and track. Lavachild's music video is a piece that took control of practical color, locations, and tone to build a visually stimulating video on a shoe-string budget.
